She didn’t think she’d be able to make it.
Kathy Cavin has been battling a serious illness—one that’s kept her from doing a lot of the things she loves. But thanks to her dear friend and fellow Summerville Main Street volunteer, Cathy Jo Williams, Kathy didn’t just make it to the concert—she met the band.
Strictly Skynyrd, a fan-favorite Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute band, was set to perform in downtown Summerville on Friday, June 13, but rain forced the concert to move to the Ag Center. That didn’t stop Cathy Jo from making sure Kathy had the night of her life.
She arranged for Kathy to have special access, complete with getting a selfie.
The band made up of Gavin Powell on vocals, Gene Ingram on guitar, Jason Cosper on bass, Lynn Hicks on piano, Bobby Graham on drums, and Paul Daniels and Scott Brown on guitar—put on a powerful show full of Southern rock classics that had the whole crowd singing and swaying.
Kathy enjoyed the show, soaking up every song and every moment. It was a night of music, joy, and friendship—and a reminder of how good it is to have friends like Cathy Jo Williams, who make sure the people they love don’t miss out on the things that make life feel good again.
